Abstract

Spatial Strategies are a non-binding planning instrument and gain their effect through persuasiveness and consensus building in the discussion process. The communication of its basic concepts is therefore of essential importance. In spatial planning, interrelations, aims and interests are not only expressed by the use of words, but also visualised in maps. The article deals with the contribution of maps to the communication of spatial strategies. The recent spatial strategies from other european countries help to get an insight into possible functions and usages of maps in the process. The aim is a conscious reflection of possibilities of visualisation.
