Abstract

This paper deals with variances in requirements of settlement area per head in mainly rural municipalities. By regression analyses, some important explanatory factors both for settlement area per head and for its change are illustrated. Case studies indicate that only local factors like high opportunity costs of land currently contribute to limit growing land requirements. The paper concludes how the Federal government could limit urban sprawl.
